BISHNUPUR FOREST DIVISION
Bishnupur Forest Division (a territorial division) was established in the year 1989. Its boundary co-terminus with
the boundary of Bishnupur District.
|
|
|
|
|
The main functions of the Divisions are :-
1. Protection of Reserved Forests.
2. Checking of Forest Produce on transit.
3. Collection of revenue from Forest Produces.
4. Plantation of economically valuable plants in the reserved forests.
The Division also took up a Project/Scheme namely Integrated Afforestation and Eco Development Project in the Loktak Catchment Area.
(IAEP- Loktak Catchment).
Under the IAEP Loktak the following works are carried out:-
1. Natural Regeneration by seed sowing.
2. Management Intervention (Afforestation) in the Loktak Catchment area .
3. Pasture Development (Plantation of fodder grasses).
4. Soil and Moisture Conservation (like construction of boulder sausage, Vegetative check dam,
Construction of Bamboo spur etc.).
5. Entry point programme:- Distribution of Improved and Smokeless
Chullahs, Sewing Machine,
Construction of water reservoir, distribution of alkathene pipes, cgi sheets, cooking utensils, etc.
The organisational structure of the Division is as follows:-
Territorial Staff :- There are two Forest Range Offices under territorial division namely Bishnupur
Forest Range Office and Moirang Forest Range Office. Bishnupur Forest Range Office has only one Forest Beat Office at
Nambol.
The Moirang Forest Range Office has the following Forest Beat Offices:-
1. Kom Keirap 2. Sendra 3. Ithai and 4. Phougakchao Ikhai Forest Beat Office.
There are eight Loktak Catchment and Eco-Development Ranges (LCED Range) which implement/execute the IAEP Loktak Catchment Project. They are as follows:- |
